Ethos & Teacher's Creed

28 Feb 2013

Just this evening. The "ethos" handbook I was given in 2011 appeared out from nowhere.

Thumbing through the pages, I stopped at the "Teacher's Creed", and Principle 1.1 in particular (highlighted):

Of all 5 Principles listed, my philosophy to enable each child to gain his/her own independence is in alignment to the holistic nurturing of the child.

As I have done so with my own children, I hope to successfully carry out the same mission and purpose with other children.

Practicum Week 1: 28/2/13

School: Manjusri Secondary School

It has been an interesting journey for me, so far.

I'm to teach Sec 2 for D&T and Sec 3 for EBS.

For the first week of my practicum, all the students are away for their respective level camps. Sec 2s in OBS, and Sec 3s in Taman Negara, Malaysia.

For the subjects I teach, I have met my CT (D&T), as well as SH (D&T). The workshop instructor, Mr Azman, has a wonderful personality. I can see myself working alongside him to benefit the students of the school. Have yet to meet the CT for EBS, as he is accompanying the students at their camp in Malaysia.

The staff of the school have been warm and welcoming. That's very encouraging. Have spoken to the Principal (Mr Low) on a few occasions, as well as the 2 VPs.

Can't say very much as to teaching as yet. All lessons will only resume next week.
